In the last few years, there has been a great rise in rural tourism here in Spain. It seems as if visitors have become bored of the offers of sunny vacations on overcrowded beaches.

As over the past few years there has been a huge increase in rural tourism, there is a growing demand for Spain holiday houses to let in quiet rural settings. People appear to be getting bored with the “sun & sea” package holidays, and prefer to stay in vacation homes in the countryside.

Nowadays more and more tourists than ever before are choosing to venture away from the resorts, head further inland and stay in a Spanish country house, also known as a “Cortijo”.

These are basically large guesthouses normally set right in the heart of the countryside. They can be quite expensive but are normally very luxurious and are a good choice if there are a lot of people sharing.

Staying in a Spanish villa in the countryside, or in a farmhouse home can be a wonderfully peaceful experience. You get all the pampering you’d normally get in a modern up market hotel and at the same time you’re incredibly close to nature and surrounded by spectacular landscapes and often some very interesting wildlife.
