Esta costa recorre el camino que va desde el Campo de Gibraltar, en Cádiz, hasta la frontera de Portugal. Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light)
This coastline runs all the way from Gibraltar to the border of Portugal. This is Spain’s least spoilt coastline. It has miles and miles of endless sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It’s wild windswept and completely natural. Some of the beaches here are considered to be the best in Spain.
Popular destinations include: Cádiz Seville, and the sandy beaches of Huelva. Tarifa, the windiest point in Europe, is a number one wind and kite surfing location.
Costa del Sol (Sun Coast)
This part of Spain has a microclimate that produces excellent weather all year round. Unfortunately a lot of the resorts in towns like Marbella, Málaga, and Torremolinos are overcrowded and sometimes badly overdeveloped.
There are plenty of nudist beaches along this coastline. In Benalmádena, there are four private ones. You’ll also find them in Estepona, Guadalmar and Torre del Mar.
The Avenida del Mar in Marbella is one of Europe’s most famous beachside promenades.
Costa Verde (Green Coast)
This coastline runs along the north of Spain. It includes the resorts of Gijón, Santander and San Sebastián in the Basque Country. The water temperature during the summer is very good, from 19 C to 22 C, but during the winter (January and February) it can get quite cold, down to 9 or 10 C. |
