Valencia is located in eastern Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean. It’s close to the mouth of the Turia River. Not only is it one of the most dynamic and liveliest cities in Spain, it’s also a first class tourist destination. Valencia has some amazing beaches, beside the city itself and stretching north and south of the capital. During the summer, the city and beaches become packed with tourists.
If you’re not into sitting on the beach, you can try all kinds of land and water sports; golf, scuba-diving, cycling, tennis and trekking are very popular.
If this doesn’t tire you out, the nightlife surely will. After the sun goes down, the real fun starts. Valencia has a kicking nightlife. There are literally hundreds of bars, pubs and nightclubs to choose from. The partying goes on well into the early hours. Check out Canovas, Juan LLorens and Avenida de Aragón. You’ll meet plenty of locals and young people here.
Valencia is home to the world famous Spanish Paella; a rice dish normally made with mussels, lobster, shrimp, chicken, pork, pepperoni, rice, saffron, and wine, amongst other ingredients. You’ll definitely find the best Paella in Spain here.
Valencia is also home to the legendary Spanish hero, “El Cid”; this is where he fought against the Moors, and there are still many popular festivals in the city celebrating the battle.
Wherever you go in Valencia, you’ll find that the city is very pleasant and the inhabitants are incredibly warm and inviting. |
